If you appreciate Yayoi Kusama as an artist and her work, this is a very special and intentional place. I found it very informative and learned a few things about her early works and political activism though art. As other reviews note, it is small, and there is no photography allowed on 2 of the 4 floors. But it is a small, curated selection of her work that changes 2x per year. There are some lovely, thin (easy to pack!) books showcasing all the works from each exhibition - which beautifully captures the work you saw with explanations. I grabbed this exhibit and another one where I recognized some of my favorite pieces. Overall I think it’s well worth the visit (and yes, reserve ahead).

A fun little museum! Doesn't offer much to see, but worth the price. Giftshop is nice but overpriced. Book your tickets in advance (they don't sell tickets onsite), and don't arrive too early, because you will have to wait and there's nowhere to sit.

Not the greatest museum with nice art but a terrible walking flow and a way over-organized staff. Also, having to order your tickets online with no Wi-Fi and a terrible process is not a great start to your museum experience. Why not sell them there on the spot, especially if you start giving them the option to buy your ticket as the default the next day? Keep in mind that it is for most tourists at least 40 min to get there. Get your process worked out better, and make it more interesting with movies etc you keep us longer in your museum instead of the 22 mijn we stayed there for Y 1,100....

Absolutely love Yayoi Kusama, her story and her art. Try expressionist. This museum is gorgeous running across 4 or 5 levels. You are provided with a pair guide that describes each of the pieces of art of display as well as Yayoi story. Must visit when in Tokyo. Pre booking essential.

The Yayoi Kusama Museum in Tokyo is an absolute must-visit for art lovers. It offers an incredibly immersive and vibrant experience focused entirely on the works of the iconic artist. The highlight is undoubtedly the sequence of "Infinity Mirrored Rooms." Stepping into these spaces feels like entering Kusama’s boundless universe, surrounded by dazzling lights and infinite reflections. It's a truly mesmerizing and unforgettable moment. Beyond the mirrors, the museum expertly showcases her signature polka-dot paintings, sculptures, and installations, tracing the evolution of her remarkable career. The architecture itself is bright and modern, perfectly complementing the art. Tickets must be purchased in advance online, and they sell out fast! The rotating exhibitions keep things fresh, making every visit worthwhile. Prepare for an hour of pure, polka-dotted magic!
