I’ve been to a lot of venues in New York City and Irving Plaza is easily one of the best. The entire venue is incredibly clean and well maintained from the floor to the bars to the bathrooms, which honestly says a lot for a busy NYC concert venue. The bathrooms were actually spotless every time I went in, which almost never happens at shows. The setup inside is awesome too. Having multiple levels and several bars makes it easy to move around, grab a drink, and still have a great view of the stage. The stage itself is surprisingly big for New York City and gives every show a much larger feel without losing that intimate concert atmosphere. The sound system was phenomenal. Everything sounded crystal clear with no distortion at all, no matter where you stood. On top of that, every staff member I interacted with was genuinely friendly and helpful. Great venue all around and definitely one I’ll keep coming back to.
It was nice and comfortable as far as the climate in doors Also their bathroom seemed clean I didn’t use it but I was in there and taking pics and I didn’t smell anything nasty lol you could tell when a bathe is nasty by t e smell and it did t have that . I didn’t like the way the security guy was telling people to move in move in to not block the isle which is UNDERSTANDABLE but how he just push shoulders saying if I can bump your shoulders you’re not moved in they should have a rope or something keeping the people in one area because it’s kinda hard to be pushing in when there’s a CROWD of people standing there and that could cause a problem of course if you push someone because you trying to MOVE in like the security guy with the long light brown beard was saying. After awhile he wasn’t doing that he just seemed to be enjoying the concert 😒but the vibe was peaceful and check in was smooth and the security outside was nice and did their job. I would go back for another concert.
2 floors. Stage is on the second. Bathrooms were clean, merch line was quick, getting in took longer because I had a small bag and for whatever reason my line (of course) was moving slow. Didn't get anything to drink or eat so can't say much for lounge. The staff seemed nice.
It's been several years since I last saw a show here but the venue Is still great. They added folding chairs to the floor instead of having general admission standing room. Would've much preferred to stand but it wasn't an uncomfortable set up. The band was phenomenal as always. Second time seeing them and while the set list was exactly the same they jazzed it up and had some bonus surprise ls that weren't a part of their first tour, such as the voice actress for Faye singing and the lead guitarist if the seat belts playing a few songs. Overall an amazing show at a great venue.
‼️ Security concerns‼️ My friend and I went to a concert a few weeks ago at this venue and left feeling uncomfortable. I am finally writing this after some time to really reflect on whether this is something I was overreacting about. Since this is such a popular venue, I wanted to share my experience and give a warning. My experience: While entering the venue, we went through a security pat-down. With no communication, I was touched on my chest by the “security guard,” which caught me off guard. After confirming that a different “security guard” did the same to my friend, I assume this is what they do every time. I wish going forward they would actually communicate something like, “Hey, by the way, I am patting you down, including your chest,” instead of just grabbing my chest. I have been to many different concert venues and have never been patted down the way I was at Irving. It didn’t help that the “guard” said maybe one word to me and was rude. After the concert, while walking down the stairs to get our coats, we had another issue with the same “security guard” who did my pat-down. This time, the “guard” seemed to feel that instead of using words, it made more sense to touch my friend aggressively on the shoulder and say “move out of the way.” It was not loud, so the “guard” could have said “excuse me” instead of touching someone. It left us not wanting to come back because how are these “security guards” trained? Are they told that touching people without warning is okay? I’m genuinely curious about this. I hope if anyone reads this, they take it as a heads-up so they don’t leave their concert feeling uncomfortable with the staff
