Pub food done extremely well. Steak was of good quality and cooked perfectly. The chicken pie the king of comfort food. Great wine list with a chap that could talk about each bottle all day. Highly recommended
Unfortunately after hyping this place up to visiting family and friends, we had an incredibly disappointing experience. The level of service was minimal and inconsistent. The food was expensive for what it was. The beef was rough and almost impossible to even cut. The chicken pie was watery, the gravy had no flavour and was runnier than water. The potatoes were bland. The drinks were good. The music was great. I really like this as a pub, but for a roast that cost us a fair penny it's an absolute no go. I would have given this feedback on the spot if any of the serving staff would have asked us, however they didn't, and didn't seem to care about our experience or opinion.
We had the roast brill and duck parfait with salad — both were absolutely delicious. The balance of flavors was perfect, the execution flawless. This is exactly what a great neighbourhood restaurant should be: honest food, impeccably made, nothing unnecessary. Highly recommend.
Very good shared plates in a locley atmosphere! The upstairs had very different vibe to the downstairs through interior design. Overall, lovely location with excellent food! Would visit again.
I rarely link pub food with good food, but Marksman Hackney delivered a solid night. The curried lamb bun was the standout, and the chicken pie nailed comfort whist the rib was average and dessert felt ready for an upgrade. The cosy pub vibe and warm crowd made it a great place to linger with friends.
