I came to the restaurant with high expectations as it is listed in Michelin Guide, unfortunately it didn‘t hold up to that. The first course was really nicely presented and the egg was the best dish of the evening (three layers w/ meat, something crunchy and egg yolk), the homemade bread was also excellent. I was not a fan of the oysters. The asparagus, strawberry and snap pea dish tasted also really nice. The following dishes fell flat then. The carbonara made with mushrooms instead of noodles disappointed me. The steak, which was perfect cooked, could have used a side dish to accompany it. The salmon was ok, although I had a better one in Patagonia. The mussels with crispy potatoes were also mediocre. The dessert was underwhelming, as there were two choices of ice cream, which were paired with some fruit. For a Michelin restaurant (and in this price range) I would expect a little bit more raffinese concerning the dessert, that fell short. The antialcoholic drink with strawberry was nice. We had the tasting menu and as i’m not a big steak fan, i found it kind of sad, that the only option if you don‘t want the steak, is tempeh. I would have wished for a more equivalent option. The staff could have been a little more attentive - as soon as the restaurant filled up, I felt more and more neglected.
I WOULD GIVE MORE STARS IF I COULD!!!! Modern, bistro-style eatery w/ brushed cement floors and pine-green paintwork, it serves what it refers to as ‘indie food’: confident, colourful dishes of no more than five seasonal ingredients. Although the à la carte is not extensive, it is well supported by a tasting menu, featuring dishes such as mussels in a saffron; cordyceps ramen, aubergine broth and onigiri; milk ice-cream with a chocolate cream etc. The end result is one that is fresh and contemporary, toying with strong flavours and incorporating acidic and spicy nuances, while at the same time elegantly showcasing micro-seasonality. Vegetables are ever present here, as the chef loves to use herbs, seeds and tender shoots in his cooking.. THE FOOD IS AMAZING! Favourite restaurant in the city by far. They have a changing menu so can always expect something new to try. Had the Beef tartare, boquerones, bonito, pork tongue terrine, squid tartare. Everything was beyond amazing. Great wines. Amazing service. RECOMMEND
I went on a solo date for the tasting menu and was so impressed with the food, service, everything. Each dish was so creative and delicious! They had these mushrooms that acted like a pasta that were to die for! The place is small and intimate so the service is very personalized and attentive. Great for a solo visit or date night!
Amazing tasting menu with event more impressive wine pairing. Great service and very knowledgeable staff. It was one of the highlights of my trip to Buenos Aires!
Dining at Julia was a super memorable experience. Every dish was a great discovery of flavors of local Argentinian ingredients. I appreciated that they didn't stick to specific culinary techniques, but instead matched the technique to the ingredients and what the chef wanted to express. I would love to return and try a different seasonal menu and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an excellent meal in Buenos Aires. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the interior design was minimal and pleasant.
